How do I get to Chris Valencia from Warwick?
Two ways, and both take about twelve minutes outside of rush hour. From the mall side, take Route 2 north: Bald Hill Road turns into Cranston’s stretch of Route 2 and ends up as Reservoir Avenue, and the shop is on it. From the airport or Post Road, take I-95 north to Route 10, which ends on Reservoir Avenue.
- Route 2 north from Warwick Mall or Apponaug: past Garden City Center, and the shop is a few minutes further along.
- I-95 north from T.F. Green: exit for Route 10, stay on it to the end, and you’re on Reservoir Avenue.
- Warwick Avenue from Oakland Beach or Conimicut: north through Edgewood, then cut west across Cranston to Reservoir Avenue.
- Pawtuxet Village: you’re practically local; cross on Park Avenue.
What’s the shop like once you get there?
Powerline Tattoo is appointment-only, Monday through Saturday, so you’ll have a set time and Chris’s full attention rather than a ticket number. Parking is street and lot; confirm the details when you book. Bring a government-issued photo ID, eat first, and plan on the appointment taking as long as the design deserves.
If you’re flying in or out of T.F. Green and want to fit in a session, mention the flight in the timing field so the schedule is built around it, not the other way round. A fresh tattoo and a long flight in tight clothes are a bad pairing, so leave a day between them when you can.
Is Chris the right artist for my idea?
If your idea has a personality, probably. Chris draws fun, surreal images with an animated, whimsical feel: a tiger crawling through blossoms, a candle dripping purple smoke, a lava lamp full of melting smileys. He specializes in illustrative, neo-traditional and new-school, in color or black-and-grey, and he draws every piece custom from your reference and your story.
Warwick has beaches, and beaches have sun, which is the enemy of a healing tattoo. If you’re planning summer sessions around Oakland Beach or Rocky Point weekends, book the tattoo for after the beach trip, not before. The aftercare page has the details. If you want the long version of each style: illustrative, neo-traditional, new-school, cover-ups.
